“All politics is local” a phrase coined by the former Speaker of the United States of Representatives Tip O'Neill. We all know the importance of local government in our everyday lives. Yet, during every election, local government is placed at the end of lengthy ballots. Moving our election to November has increased voter participation from 2,000 - 3,000 voters to about 14,000. In an effort to bring more attention and to continue enhancing participation in our elections, I would like to pass a resolution requesting that the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections place the Miami Lakes election first on the August and November ballots.
