On May 17, 2016, residents of the Town of Miami Lakes voted to amend section 3.2 and 3.7 of the Town Charterto include provisions for a Town Manager and Town Attorney Selection and Approval Process. Specifically, the Charter Amendment requires the Town Council to select a candidate, with emphasis on experience and knowledge, with feed back from Town residents. Additionally, the Charter Amendment requires an enactment by ordinance.
On March 13, 2017, a Town Workshop on the Town Manager and Attorney Selection Process was conducted. During the Workshop Council Members and others present were allowed an opportunity to provide feedback on a proposed process. Said process includes the adoption of selection process by the Town Council, the creation of a selection committee, and an approval process.
