As we all know, the rental of efficiencies is illegal and constitutes a violation to our code. However, some property owners ignore this fact and decide to divide their single family homes into two or more dwelling units and rent efficiencies for money. This is unacceptable behavior and we must stop it.

The added illegal cars increase our traffic problems, the added residents -including children, contribute to school overcrowding and the added demands created by these residents, attack and diminish our quality of life, not to mention our property values.

Thus, in an effort to eradicate the rental of efficiencies in our town, I respectfully request that the Town Manager ask the Building inspectors to carefully and diligently research the Miami Laker, the Miami Herald, el Nuevo Herald, the Internet and any other major publication, and look for addresses in our town that are being advertised for the rental of efficiencies. This research should be done at least twice a month in each of the publications mentioned above.
