Town of Miami Lakes Memorandum To: Honorable Vice-Mayor and Councilmembers From: Mayor Michael Pizzi Subject: Event Honoring 15th Anniversary of September 11th Date: 6/7/2016 Recommendation: This year marks the 15th anniversary of September 11th. In the past, the town has participated with other entities in events that honor those that were lost and celebrated the legacy of our first Responder Heroes. On the 5th and 10th anniversaries, the town sponsored or co-sponsored such events. Now more than ever, we should commemorate September 11 to honor our heroes and to unite our town and our nation as we continue our ongoing fight against those that preach hate against our nation. Thus, we should sponsor or co-sponsor an event that promotes patriotism, love of God, and never ending love of those we lost in our fight to preserve freedom. Fiscal Impact: Medium
