Honorable Mayor and Council Members:

The Historical Society Committee (HSC) has been inactive for some time—about a decade. That fact, coupled with the recent joint partnership between the Neighborhood Improvement Committee (NIC) and the Cultural Affairs Committee (CAC) for the Miami Lakes Historic Bus Tour, leads me to believe this Committee has run its course and should be formally done away with. Further, the functions bestowed on the HSC can and should be divided between the CAC and NIC. After all, a review of the attached resolution demonstrates these committees and the Mayor have already been proactive in fulfilling the assigned functions. Therefore, I propose rescinding the resolution establishing the Historical Society Committee and will propose adding its functions to another committee or committees at a later time.
