According to Florida Statute 316.183, “On all streets or highways, the maximum speed limits for all vehicles must be 30 miles per hour in business or residence districts. . . However, with respect to a residence district, a county or municipality may set a maximum speed limit of 20 or 25 miles per hour on local streets and highways after an investigation determines that such a limit is reasonable.”

The current speed limits on Miami Lakeway North and Miami Lakeway South is 35 MPH., which is over the standard statutory speed limits for residential areas. However, the speed limits on Miami Lakes Drive are set at the standard statutory speed limit of 30 MPH.

I would recommend a resolution reducing the speed limits on Miami Lakeway North and Miami Lakeway South from 35 MPH to 30 MPH.
