Recommendation:

There are currently several matters being litigated by the Town of Miami Lakes. Some of these matters are being referred to our insurance carrier to mitigate the Town's legal expense. This report will highlight the active files, and a report of expenses incurred to date.

Background:

MICHAEL PIZZI JR. v. TOWN OF MIAMI LAKES
(Criminal Matter)

During the fiscal year 2018, the Town spent a total of $102,599.00 For 2019, litigation reserves exist in the amount of $400,000.00. The Town is currently preparing responses to the former mayor, Michael Pizzi's appeal. At this time we have received approximately $3,985.00 owed in invoices received, but not yet approved. In light of a new fiscal year, it is recommended that $50,000.00 be moved from litigation reserve to Pizzi Criminal Litigation in order to pay for these and future invoices.
